Didn't think she cared
I like the black trim ... have tried to get most of it converted over to black ... just a few parts on the motor/exhaust that are chrome or polish alum ...
I got two sets of new hinges and latches for the Tour-Pak that I'm going to use to replace the crappy OE setup on the pre-'80's FLH hard saddlebags ...
The saddlebag lid gaskets were also wearing out, so I've got new gaskets ... the way I am planning to assemble everything, I am thinking it should vastly improve the water-tight integrity and make the bags much more useful ...

Since I am filling the holes from the OE hinges ... and since the bags are looking a little rough from a few nicks and dings ... I had decided to re-finish the paint and go ahead and also do the fairing and lower fairings ...
My plan was to color match everything with the tank and fenders (and battery cover and fuse box cover) ... I had been talking to a paint vendor about matching the color, since the maker of the powdercoat does not do liquid coatings ...
When I mentioned to my wife I still need to pick up the color to match the tins, she told me that she didn't think I should color-match the bags and fairing ... she likes it the way it is ...

She thinks I should just get some more gloss black and repaint everything as is ... just freshen it up ...
I was pretty surprised, since I didn't think my wife really had an opinion ...
She does not ride with me ... ever ... and has been known to knock my riding / motorcycle with a derogatory remark from time to time ...
My plan was to basically end up with a monotone Electra Glide / Street Glide look ... with a few minor variations on the theme ...
Her comment was something to the effect that it would be like a guy color matching his belt and shoes ... LoL ...
I've never really been dissatisfied with the current look ...
Oh well ... what say you ...?

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I'm trying not to pour a ton of money into this task ... since I am rehabbing the bags, I kind of need to 'freshen up' the paint ... the fairing has a couple / few little places that need to be fixed and repainted ...
So, I guess the CVO Street Glide idea would be cool ... if I wasn't trying to go cheap ... if I had a couple grand lying around I might be inclined to try something like that ...
I've already got the prep material, including the primer ... it is down to the base coat and clear ...
I priced out the color match paint, activator and clear top coat ... around $210-$225 ... if I just got gloss black it would drop the price to around $195ish ...
Okay, I guess I don't really want to end up like this ...

I kind of like the Ultra Limited, with the black fairing lowers and the two tone (color over black) fairing ...

I think that might be a lot less involved than doing the CVO-type paint scheme ...
If I did that, I think I'd just paint the bags the color of the tins and call it good ...
Any thought on this concept ...?

Looks like I am at about 3:1 in favor of color match ...
Thanks for the input fellas ...

I copied you pic and changed it up a little for you (sorry if it looks like i butchered it, not intended) this would work and still fit in you budget.
Before:

After:

I feel that with the black trim on the front fender, the black dash, crash bar, seat and rack already gives your bike a good mix of color flow and the scheme on the bags and fairing I made help it all flow. So you would still save money because you wouldn't have to paint any more then you already plan to. Also, the lines on the bags are applied so you don't have to try and transion between the lid and bag, the lid stays all black.
Looking at your avatar, I think if you take the line around the back of the bag and bow it so it flows to the bottom inside corner it could look good too.
