Yeah,I've thought about that route.I went down last Sept.,and there are a few other scrapes and dings here and there,so doing that much custom work on a cosmetically flawed pipe don't fly.Truthfully if I had the coin I'd buy a new T-header and have it chopped and twisted,as well as ceramic coated.I have however decided against the sideshots after much thought.I just don't want to sacrifice an ounce of grunt as compared to a 2-1 pipe.I would hate it every time I hopped on the bike. So it's either new t-header with the chop/twist etc.Or save my coin for the RB Racing pipe... I've HD my eyes on that one for a long time.
I know this isn't one of the choices you were lookin at, but check out Hacker Custom's Track Tuned header... its in my sig pic... amazing quality, he's got 2 different inserts to choose from for either track/wide open all the time or more of a mid-low end torque one for everyday ridin... i love mine... good sound all through rpm ranges n it sits up flush with your swingarm so no risk of dragin... believe me i've tried... IT CAN'T BE DONE lol
i went from slip ons to these. they dont have the cross over tube. i added a pcv when i changed and i gained low end. these dont come with baffles i made some and drilled the holes. kind of sounds like a header equipped car but still sounds good. Radii sweepers is what they are called.
I went from slip on's to Rush shorts. I could tell the first time I went for a ride that low end power was a lot less. I now have SuperTrapp 2:1 and love them. I have more low end than the slip on's and the same top end as the shorts. The sound realy deep. Best pipe I have ever had.
I love my LSR, but have to watch the scraping as well so you may not be better off if you go that route.
Damn!! Really??? All that dough and the damn thing is still in the scrape zone??? U just burst my bubble man!! There goes that idea... Screw it I'd rather chop and twist a T-header than spend the dough for a LSR if its still gonna scrape! That's ridiculous!! how low does it sit exactly?
I took a couple minutes and made a skid plate out of stainless just to protect the pipe. Not pretty but it does the trick and gets put to good use. Like others mentioned though, ever since I changed the shocks it's been a lot more difficult to hit. I'm going to build some new headpipes for it soon. Stepped larger tubing to make the new motor happy and definitely positioned for more ground clearance.
