Question installing mid controls

Hi everyone, I currently have the stock forward controls on my 2012 wide glide, I am hopefully trading them for mid controls off of an 09 super glide from a fellow forum member. Does anyone know if they will fit? And if they will will anything else be required for install?

The inner primary cover needs the hole for the shifter shaft as well.

how do you place the shifter rod through? Do you have to take the inner primary off as well?

You need new inner and outer primaries plus the tube the shaft runs through.

Like already mentioned, not as easy as just swapping pegs and linkage. You need the inner and outer primaries from a mid control bike. That involves removing primary drive/clutch and starter sprag. Have you considered getting the Dyna footboard kit? It's the footboards kit that comes stock on the switchback. It's in between mid and forward controls and you won't have to change a thing on your primary.

Are you sure? Switchback seems to use a different primary...

Ya, the kit will fit on any dyna. If you have mid controls you have to take the shifter shaft out of the primary and cover the holes. If you already have forwards all you're doing is changing the shift linkage rod. The boards mount to the forward control and mid peg mounts.

Yes the footboard kit is just a swap with forwards but if the OP`s signature picture is his bike, the footboard kit won`t work because of his pipes.

Default Concider boards??

As mentioned your 2012 WG came with forwards from factory therefore doesn't have the hole in the primary (inner or outer) for the shift shaft. So you would need to replace both.
Another option would be boards. Here there are two options. Board kit from HD who's is same as SwitchBack, or aftermarket which is exactly the same as the old (pre06) Dyna Defender (FXDP) boards with the exception they have a boss intricated for the forward shift shaft.
The SwitchBack boards mount further forward the the old style which you may not like.
I've got the old style on the wife's low rider and we both like position over the SB.
