I just ordered a set of adjustable mini floorboards for the new Wide Glide. They are identicle to what I had on my '11 WG. They really improved my comfort on the '11. The only issue I had with them was I felt the rubber was a little slick, so I put skateboard grip tape on the rubber.

The footboards are kind of a compromise when it comes to position if you think about it logically ... the rear of the board is supported at or about the position of the mid-control mount ... the front of the board is supported at or about the position of the forward-control mount ...

I am tall (6'4") and have the footboard setup from the Softail lineup that's been adapted to the position of the forward control on my FXD's frame ...

I like the fact that I can either slouch in the saddle and slide my feet forward so that my heels are resting on the forward-most outer edge of the boards ... and quickly slide back in the seat and erect or slightly forward leaning with the ***** of my feet on the rear-most edge of the floorboards ... and anything in between ...

Over the past year or so, there's been a little trend of guys with forward controls adding the mid-mount foot pegs ... just to have a place for their feet when they 'sit up' ... and/or to mitigate the fatigue on long rides ...

I think with the FLD Switchback kit, you will have a lot of flexibility to move you feet to any position on the boards and be able to get comfortable ... that is my expectation based on my personal experience of using the boards on a Dyna for several years now ...

* * *

If one is looking at a Dyna with stock mid-controls and either swapping out for forward controls or the FLD Switchback footboard kit, the cost is not that different between the options ... so, the cost of adding the peg-mount footboards to forward controls then becomes costlier ...

If one has forward controls to begin with, then the cost of peg-mounted footboards is a lesser incremental cost ... unless you could sell the take-off forward controls to recoup some of the cost of switching to the FLD Switchback board setup ...

* * *

Just another observation ... the geometry of the Touring bikes' frames (and the Softails, as well, for that matter) is quite different from the Dyna ... I concur with Rich that a tall guy will likely feel cramped on a Touring bike ... the seating position to footboards distance is less, I think, than with a Dyna ...

Good luck to the OP with the decision ...

I agree with SUFOR Chop's observation about being cramped on a touring bike. I am 6'3" and whenever I (have to) ride my Ultra Classic, I realize just how comfortable my Dyna with Softail footboards really is.

Apparently the overusage of the vernacular hasn't yet to be picked up by some...
