I did feel the turbulence on my ex shield bike only on fullfsce helmet with visor closed. With MX or open face, I didint feel like my head would have been inbass drum. Full face creates sound chamber when lid is closed
Hey Joe, that is an awesome idea. I would love to be able to have detachable lowers because my shield is only on for interstate trips. If I copied your idea, do you think having my signals relocated to the forks would be a problem with those lowers fitting? I have an 06 wide glide with a quick detach windshield.
Sorry to hijack but thought it might help someone possibly taking this route.
are your sigs behind the shield now? if so you should be fine if you have to knotch the lowers a bit that will work just fine as well
Get one of these, no buffetting, no pressure on the chest, very little hitting mid way up my FF helmet - best money ever spent on a windshield that doesn't really look like a windshield.
Memphis shades lowers solved the problem for me. Still feel wind but no longer have the brutal buffeting I had before.
Me too. I have a Memphis Shades Rio Grande and later got the matching lowers. They made a huge difference, although I can't say they look that great. When you're riding at high speed, take your left arm and put it across your chest right in front of you (parallel to the ground). If most of the buffeting stops, you need lowers as the wind is coming around your lower forks an up the sides of the tank. Lowers will help stop that. A tool bag between the forks can help too.
I decided to try the clearview 20 inch for the replacement. I am hopefull it helps out some. I will post a review of my experiences when I get it. It is in stock and should ship early next week.
I also picked up memphis shade lowers last week. Unfortunately, I noticed no difference. I did notice that there was less wind coming through on the bottom, which is good, as it is a bit chilly here. but it had no noticeable affect on the buffeting up top. I also experimented with the position of the current windshield. I rode about 140 miles today riding around on the highway and a few local parks. I was able to get it slightly better by raising it all the way on the bar. But it still felt like someone was boxing my head left and right most of the time.
