Default Struts and strut covers

Hey. Just checking under my brushed aluminum looking strut covers, do the actual struts look like the ones on the newer models? i.e. gloss black and about the same size and shape. Also I have QD hardware attached. So if I remove the covers can I still use the "extended hardware"?
Thanks in advance.

You'll need to specify what year/model your bike is and a pic or two wouldn't be a bad idea. It sounds like you have an early Street Bob.

Yes! I removed mine off my 08 street bob and been running like that for a year now with detachable hardware. Now I removed the detachable hardware and have saddle bags mounted there and sold my covers.

Crud. I guess that would have helped. Yes I have an 07' Street Bob.

Just take the covers off and sell them. It's black powder coat underneath, looks better IMO.
All you detachable hardware will fit no problem. Or just cut the struts off altogether, lol

I was going to powder coat my covers on an 07 SB as well, took them off and there were the factory struts gloss black and perfect. Running like that ever since.
