2008 FXDC slip on issue
Just put on some python slip-ons from Dennis Kirk on my 2008 Superglide custom. Reader comments said install em and ride away. Sounds and runs great through the gears but idles a little high and backfires some. Any ideas??

How high is the idle? Changing pipes should not affect your idle, maybe it's just louder.
The backfire can be from an exhaust leak, either at the slip joints or the exhaust flange.
If what you're getting is decel pop, that's normal. You didn't say if you had any other mods, like a tuner or intake. More info needed.

Just adding slipons is not going to change your idle rpm. What your experiencing is probably just decel popping, not back firing. Some exhausts are more prone to others for decel pop, especially free flowing 2 into 2 systems. Adding a proper tune usually cures (or greatly helps) the popping. My bike runs like a champ but will make loud pops (back-fire) but only on hard decelerating downshifts...
