Automatically changing undamaged tubes with each tire ranks right up there with changing synthetic oil every 3,000 miles in my opinion. I leave the old Dyna Beads in them also.

I always change the tube out with a new tire. Why take any chances.

Default Do you replace tubes every time?

Well.... just yesterday I tried arguing the tube change thing with the service writer at the Boise HD Dealer....He (a nice fellow) insisted that they believe in changing tubes every time and that they could not be certain that their Tire Changer had not damaged the old tube. I wanted to reuse the tube because this time I didn't order up a new refill of Dyna beads (I usually do). So when the scoot came out with its tire changed.....Service writer said " Shop guy said he had to change the tube".....I'm thinking its a liability thing....I'm gonna start changing my own tires.

By the way I run Metzler ME-880's and like them!!! I do run a 110 90 19 up front because I think the slightly wider contact patch up front makes for a better road curve hugger on Idaho's Mtn. road twisties....just my opinion no scientific evidence.

JUST RIDE

Some do, some don't. I do every single time, cheap insurance. You may also inspect the rim tape as well, it wears out over time.

Shops have their own rules and sometimes we are at their mercy. I find it rare that anyone would say its probably not better to change them both, but given the fact you said it was less than a year old, if I had the option on this particular tire change, I would have went the cheap route and reused it. Just sayin'.

I still have the last tube I replaced, the Harley shop insisted, it still looks perfectly fine I'd use it again.I get more peace of mind out of money in my pocket than replacing perfectly good parts.

Why not just change the wheels when you change tires you know just to be on the safe side.
