I guess since its winter and everyone is talking about being bumed out since they cant ride Im trying to figure a way around it. I would love to havea pair of the heated underware but they think alot of those things and the price shows it. So I figured since there was alot of northerners on here you guys might have some suggestions on thermals
I ride all year round and we get below freezing alot over the winter. I wear stanfields long under wear under my jeans and a pair of riding pants, for my upperbody i wear a thin thermal turtle neck with an electric vest with a hoody over top then my leather jacket. I bought a pair of winter glooves from the dealer that are great my hands never get cold. And for the head i still wear the beeny but under it i wear a thin type belaclava and then wrap on of those riding scarfs arround my face. It sounds like alot but when its all on ive lots of manuverability and i never get cold. I think the most important part is the electric vest close to the body the layers over top of it, keeps the body chest warm and the layers keep the heat in.
Full face helmet, quality leathers and multiple layers works for me- back in the late '70s - early '80s we would use cheap snow mobile suits - not much of a fashion statement but kept us reasonably warm. If you want to get fancy there's heated socks, gloves, probably gondos as well! Don't the baggers have heated grip and seat options?
i know what you mean about the chaps I always used think the looked like ****. I was going to buy leather pants instead but quickly learned that they seen to make those for a fashion statement rather than function and I guess alot of the chaps I looked at looked like they we're for playing dress up at S&M night but I found a really nice pair at the cycle show in Washington DC a cpl weeks ago and I have got to say that I loved the hell out them. A little uncomfotable at first but the broke in fast last night I came home in mid 30 deg weather and didn't feel a bit of breeze and there was a cold breeze of the Potomac last night lol. Try a few pair on and find a set that suits you I think you'd like them after you ride in the
I wear this for 20's and single digit riding. I live in Elbert, Colorado and also ride in Colorado Springs a lot. I wonder what temperature that makes it while riding at 55 mph?
1. Full face helmet and a thermal balaclava.
2. Two pairs (top and bottoms), Indera extreme weather thermals (found in Walmart hunting section) http://www.inderamills.com/products/975/975.htm
3. Jeans and T-shirt.
4. FXRG Leather Jacket.
5. Boots, with socks and Merino Wool cold weather boot socks.
6. Latex Free gloves (first Aid Type) as liner to my thick tour master gloves.
I am looking for leather pants forextra protection incase of wiping out, but I do not need them for the cold.
Check out UnderAmour. I wear silk weight thermal underwear that the Army issues me you can find the same thing rom cabela or bass pro shops etc.
UnderArmour is some great stuff. I use the Cold gear in the winter as needed: Shirt, pants, socks, Hood & glove liners.
And the Heat Gear shirts, undershorts & socks in the summer
