Default 2001 speedo help
my speedo stopped working today , my fuses are good , speedo still lights up odometer lights up but does not turn speedo needle does not move . where do i start trouble shooting this thing ?

my friends is doing the same thing....we think it is the gear.

I'd check the VSS (vehicle speed sensor).

I had the same problem. It was the speed sensor. I just had to pull it out and clean it off. It is magnetic and had small iron shavings on it.

pulled my vss was covered in metal shavings , cleaned metal shavings off it but its still not working

You could try to see what happens to the needle when you put 12v to pin 12 and ground to pin 8 at the speedometer (see this wiring diagram)?

what would putting 12v to pin 12 (accessory ) show me ? when i turn key on my needle moves a hair like normal .
