I recently installed some OEM Fat Bob rear shocks (thanks Tucker!) and I've exhausted myself trying to find some chrome hardware since it's all now exposed.
I know I can probably find suitable hardware at a few local places but it's that spacer that's bugging me, I don't want to risk one that's not the exact right length.
I'm sure at some point a few Fat Bob owners have wanted to upgrade these, can anyone point me in the right direction?
Where that spacer stud goes into the frame is cut into a hex so it locks into the frame like a hex shape nut and then becomes a bolt head that goes through the frame with a nut that tightens it down. Its a really unique cut mounting stud so it is a unique item and most aftermarket companies won't mess with something that involves a safety risk and is not in high demand.
I had a similar idea but making them blacked out so I already took one off to see and it was a PITA to get off and was too odd sized and odd shaped to work with so I just put it back on and torqued the **** out of it.
You can take them off the bike and have them chromed if you don't mind the down time.
Or you can get some of these and drill the opening holes to slip over the spacer studs
I took a small rag and used "Simi-chrome" polish on the upper studs. Only takes a couple of minutes and after buffing looks a lot better than OEM. Will post pics when I get back home.
