That really puts a vintage look to it, and a nice change from the whitewalls usually chosen for this purpose.

I did a thread during the rear fender install ... got pretty detailed info and some good photos as it neared completion at page 8 of the thread ...

I have had the vintage tires (Avon Safety Mileage II - AM7) about 2,400 miles now ...

I liked them the first 1,000 miles or so ... until I got to SoCal and started riding some of the freeways with deep cut rain grooves ...

... the tires track and then (when the rain grooves 'wiggle') it causes the tires to wobble and bounce around ... kind of unnerving at speed (speeds over 75 MPH) ...

... but, I've become acclimated somewhat and it doesn't bother me as much lately ...

I like the look of the Safety Mileage II tires ... but, not sure I'll renew the 'subscription' when the time comes ... we'll see ...

I see all the cool kids are running those tires on their choppers now, again.
They do look really cool but you confirmed what I was thinking- handling would suffer some. I guess that isn't as much of an issue with a rigid frame with 3in. of ground clearance.... but they do look really cool.

Thanks for the post, I was looking for real world reviews on this Avon tires. The look is unmatched, but it seems you pay the price by sacrificing some handling.
