Looking for help,
I recently purchased a quicksilver fairing by Vetter. This was a smaller version of the "Windjammer" fairing.
I noticed that there is a company selling mounts for this fairing and at one time (1982 -1983) they made a mount for the FXR / FXRS as well as for the
FXB / FXE / FXS and FXE / F.
Now, I know that Harley changed the frames on the FX series when they came out with the FXD bikes.
My question is; did Harley change from FRONT of the frame...where the fairing mount would fit? It would make life a lot easier if I could purchase this ready made mount for the FXR and have it fit my 2004 Dyna Low Rider.
Really appreciate any input.
Thanks
Thanks for the response.
I went ahead and purchased the mount anyway.....and was quite surprised. The frame tubes on the FXD are larger, but the mount fit anyway...all that was required were larger u bolts to go around the larger downtubes of the frame.
Need to get my fairing painted to match my bike and I will have a nice, inexpensive frame mounted fairing...not to mention a "one of a kind Dyna Low Rider."
My Vetter Quicksilver project is done. I think it came out really nice. Had the fairing painted to match the bike, put Kuryakyn LED light in place of the turn signals and mounted the turn signal down on the fairing mount.
Can't say enough for the help I received in purchasing the FXD mount. The
service was great, they sent pictures, measurements, everything to make sure that things would fit.
