Default Idle issues
I have a 2008 FXDL with some idle issues, bike starts normal but after warm up the idle might be normal then jump up to 1500 then back down to normal and once it dropped to 750 and almost stalled. Actions I have taken so far are adjusted and oiled throttle cables, cleaned IAC and spark plugs, reset gap. Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong or is it just a bad IAC. Thanks for any help.

Could be leaky inlet manifold rubbers or a bad sensor. Check the diagnostic codes but they ain't always reliable.

Lots of components involved. I replaced my IAC and my Throttle Position Sensor. The Bike almost exploded the first time I started it after replacing them, but once I did some quick on-off ignition cycles to reset the system it settled back down.

Is there anyway of diagnosing a bad IAC witrh a multimeter?

IAC check via voltage? - no I don't think so. (I am not a pro wrench though, so wait for more opinions) There -is- a way to get a voltage to check the the TPS if I recall. New IAC wasn't that much $ though.

All the searching I've done comes on leading me to the IAC.

Most likely it's the IAC.
