hmm I guess I could get another dial caliper.I used to have one but can't find it. Hate to say it but if I don't make a note I forget what I was going to do & then i forget where I left the damn note. Getting old SUCKS! Thanks for jogging my brain

Buying the HD part would be great except my dealer doesn't carry or sell tools you got to order them on line. That insures he gets you into his shop not DIY. Plus my Softail is a Custom Chrome kit bike, not a Harley, so not everything/anything is the same as Harley everything is after market. All the sockets I've seen on line for sale are 1 3/8" which I know doesn't fit cause I've got one for the Sportster. I needed to find the metric size for the Custom Chrome after market part. I tried e mailing them to ask but got no response back. I'll get another dial caliper measure & get the right size Thanks lo-rider for jogging my brain

Well good luck!! If it's the 35mm I would think you would be good to order the 42mm fork nut socket online. I have a 35mm impact socket, which was all I could find. It was to lose for me and like I said above the factory was a way better fit. If it doesn't work I'm sure someone on this forum will buy it off you. Plus CC will take forever to respond in their tech department. I had better luck calling.

got a new dial caliper today they're 35 mm for the Custom Chrome front end
