Pin #3 on the ECM. The wideglide (maybe the 35th also) has a tach signal wire in the dash from what I hear. But the Street Bob and Superglides have an UNDOCUMENTED signal at the ECM. Only thing that worked for me.
Do a search for tach and ECM in the Dyna area and you'll find the past threads with more specifics.
Well,... I had this same question awhile back on here, and I was unable to get a tach signal at the speedo like the directions in the tach states. I also have a service manuel which did not help with the problem either. On my 06 Superglide I had to run a wire to the #3 position in the ECM. You will also need the special pin that connects into the ECM because the one in the tach wiring kit dont work. I'll try and search for the thread that helped me out on this, because it has the HD part# for the ECM connector pin. I would also advise you to just save yourself some cussing and heartache and take a long piece of the wire that you will use and have the dealer crimp it on when you buy the connector, and then just splice and solder and heatshrink it back in place.
Here is the info that kpreese gave me awhile back and it was very helpful. H-D should hire him to write their installation instructions. It gives you all the info you will need and is very detailed and also has that pin part#.
#3 location on the speedo connection on a '06 WG for the tach id obvioudly located next to #2.
#1 wire at the end is - Orange
#2 wire is Light Green and Violet
#3 is vacant (This is where I picked up the tach signal, since I couldn't get if off the ECU)
#4 is Brown and Violet.
On the ECU #1, #2 and #3 are empty. #4 is Green and Orange.
Pretty sure the Wideglide has a totally different wiring harness. I would think the ECM pin would have still worked, but that could be a different ECM in the WGs also, which would make sense.
Check out those other threads Psycho and PM me if you need any help. It's not bad. Running the wires to where you want them is the pain, hooking them up isn't so bad once you eliminate the mystery.
The service manual gives tips on the pinout numbering on the connectors and how to disassemble them. The service manual is worth its weight in gold, but I have detailed pictures of that ECM connector so you *could* work around not having it if you had to.
