Have you changed the bulbs out in the front (stock) sigs? I had this issue a while back (the code, not the red light) and it was a bulb I installed. I removed my rear turn sigs on my 10' Street Bob and replaced with LED and a load equalizer for them, but left the front sigs stock. When one of the front bulbs when out, I used a bulb out of my old rear housings and this could popped up. It took me a while to find the problem because I thought it had to do with my rear LED setup an the front lights worked fine. For the hell of it, I got new bulbs for the front lights and changed them out, problem went away. I noticed that the bulbs I pulled out had different part numbers and according to the service manual, the front and rear lights have different part numbers (if my memory serves me correctly). My guess is the bulbs are designed to be used differently and this was the issue.
personally, I wouldn't feel good about the light popping on at high revs. this imo has to do with something else then the issue with the taillight or turn signals. I would still go to the dealer and let them sort it out, especially since its still under warranty.
It really has nothing to do with the revs. It just runs a cycle. It just seems like when you rev it will go on, come to a light you will see the key light too. As long as it is just that code. Even if you go back to the harness you will still get the code, you have to have harley flash the BCM for the LEDs or get a load equalizer or (double check the bulbs) as we have suggested, or just say who cares and keep riding. I don't know if anyone else on here has messed around with the turn sigs but if they haven't gotten their BCM flash I'm pretty sure they a rollin with a key light also. The new bike are becoming more like computers, they can be very testy if you mess with them.
Funny thing is tonight I got my smoked lense kit it. I piped off the front blinker stock lenses and one if the blinker lights (running lights) had an amber bulb and one was clear. I don't know if that would be a problem or not but it seemed weird.
Again, thanks for Ll your help Psi23 it was awesome how you walked me through everything over a message board!!
Yeah, the bulb is probably on its way out and isn't creating the proper ohms that the BCM is looking for, maybe change em out and check again for the red key light to come back
Read through this whole thing, and as soon as I read that the OP has an LED tail light I guessed that to be the problem. I have an LED tail light bulb also, and I have the same condition occasionally with the red light....although mine normally comes on at lower rpms, then goes out after a few seconds. Talked to my dealer about this and they said no worries, it's because I have an LED bulb in my rear & no load equalizer. No harm will be done and I just run it as it is.
PSI23 I have a related question... I just replaced my handlebars on my 12' street bob.. and I knicked a spot on my left hand control wires.. when I got it all apart, I used a needle and took the terminals out of the plug, and I slid the black plastic tube off the wires and slid heat shrink up over the bad spots and fixed it.. the wires were still intact copper wise.. I, re installed the black plastic, and re- hooked up the plug, and slid in thru the RSD bars.. put all other parts back as they were.. and now my bike wont crank, no horn, no turn signals, no brake lights.
I had a blown fuse, I replaced it, and got these trouble codes..
