Try to catch Barb’s HD when she has a Chrome Sale (usually 15% off) or when she has an outdoor event in the parking lot - often it’s a tent sale, boxes of stuff cheap, sometimes new. By the Audubon shopping center.

Yeah, you gotta get rid of those stubby stock pegs. I have a pair of Large Cushioned Foot Pegs (49110-98) that you can have for free. Private msg for that.

Keep those rear shocks, even if in a box in the attic.

99-05 dx 01-03 on the dxt so low production numbers. Adjustable rear shocks and dual disc cartridge forks 2000 and up. OP dont cut the rear shocks. If you want to lower it on the cheap get some lowering blocks. It'll drop it a little and you wont trash shocks you can easily sell for $300, also if you ever end up selling it most people interested in the dx want the original suspension. Or just find some shorter used shocks from ebay or CL. You can also drop the fork tubes in the triple trees about an inch as well. It willl mess with the feel of the steering but its also free. +1 on finding used stuff and cleaning it up yourself. Ive saved a lot of money that way. MC parts are expensive new.

I've got some lowering blocks, fresh powdercoat. PM me if you are interested, OP.

But yeah, please don't cut the originals...
