i am 5'9... they where cool but got a bit old after 4 or 5 hours strait... highway you are like a kite!, i had 16.5 total with 14 in apes and 2.5 risers
Streetbob Kid, I'm 5'8" have the 14" R6C would have been fine with 16". Hand about even with shoulder depending on the seat i have on at the time. LePera Bare bones hand a little higher than shoulders, Lepera Daytona Sport hands about even.
I'm 5'11" and change...I love my 16's.My hands are still below my shoulders by a bit, very comfortable. The whole kite thing does come into play on the freeway at speeds over 80mph though. You will get used to it
Im 5'4" and I was running 16 apes with 1.5" risers on my old fatboy. Loved the hand position and I had no issues with keeping control at any speed or manuever. I had more issues on the freeway keeping my feet on the floowboards than I did with the apes
A buddy of mine had 16" apes on his Superglide. Three years ago he rode from LA to here (Albuquerque) in one day: 800 miles. The next day we rode from here to Sturgis in one day: 840 miles. Except for the cops ticketing him in Wyoming for his bars being too high, he loved the things. He's about 6' 1" though.
I am a little over 6' and have long arms. On my bike with 14's my hands are just about shoulder height. I do have my bars pushed forward, but I still think 16's would be a little too tall for me. Maybe the reach on a Wide Glide is different?
