Anybody have any input on the kickstand shims for a lowered bike? I am putting 11" shocks on my superglide, had the 1 3/4" lowering blocks on it (didn't like them, they got in the way of my saddle bags.) But when I had them on my bike was too straight up and down on the stock stand. I tried the cheap way lowering and it didn't work out. Ended up spending the $ for lower shocks. Should I forget this cheap junk and just buy a lower stand or am I over thinking something simple?
I know where you're comin' from. I had a 'tip-over' w/ my bike when I was runnin' 11" 412's. It freaked me out so I bought a 1" lower jiffy stand. I'm back to running 12.5" 440's and a stock height stand. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in buying my shortened one.
I have a new wide glide that I lowered with 11" shocks. The bike stood to straight up, even stock. When I put the lowered shocks on it got worst. I had a buddy cut the tab on the frame that the stand goes into while I sat on the bike. It is much better than it was stock. I still watch how I park this bike. I want to mention while storing this bike I always keep it in a Condor Stand....
i just did this lowering block to 11" 412's process myself on my fxdf. I also lowered my front 1" with the progressive lowering springs. While researching a shorter kickstand i found a suggestion that works great and cost nothing.
pull the kickstand off the bike
there is a tab on the kickstand that locks into the frame when down
cut off about a 1/4 inch off that tab (I used a pneumatic cut off wheel)
re install the kickstand
you just saved yourself $50-$100.
Took about 20-30 minutes total. m
My bike looks like it has a stock lean.
I had the same issue. I bought the 1" under stand. I feel more at ease, that when I come back to the bike it'll still be upright.
I bought it at DK Cycles.
