I was just reading through this post... what was the resolution to your starter problem?? I have an 01 WG thats having a similar problem. Getting a grinding noise every so often when i start her up. Anyways... any bit of info helps... and i agree... sick bike bro.

My bike got to the point that after about 5 years it had a hell of a time turning over in cold weather to start and most times simply wouldn't/couldn't turn over fast enough to start it.
I did the new starter thing, new cables, etc and nothing made any difference until I put a starter button on the starter solenoid itself (check the picture).
Now, I can go out and it be 18 degreesF and the regular start button won't start the bike - normal - but I simply reach down and hit the button on the starter solenoid itself and it fires up like it's still summer.
The only thing I can figure is terminals somewhere in the starter configuration wiring just aren't 'connecting' well anymore like in this thread https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...em-solved.html , unfortunately I just don't have the money to follow everything some day to check them all as my bike is the only transportation I own and being down even a day or two is not very easy.
