Anyone have any experience with either one of these pipes and burly rear slammer shocks? I was wondering if there would be much scraping issues under "normal" riding.
I have the 2-1 with regular shocks and I scrape occasionally on the pipe. My lower heatshield on the end of the pipe finally broke at the attaching bracket. And I also have scrapes on the lower pipe heatshield. I got around 21,000 miles on these pipes.
Beware the brackets on the heatshields are not that robust. And designed with sharp corners in the bend area. I can see where repeated scrapes could break the bracket.
I used JB weld in a attempt to fix the bracket to get a few more miles at the end of the season. Thru V&H the end heatshield is around $250.
Looking for a new set of pipes. Not sure what is next.

I don't have experience with them yet, but some of the vids and pictures I've seen the exhaust is slanted down. Almost looks like they weren't mounted correctly. I'm thinking those pics/vids were bikes with lowered rears and more susceptible to scraping, but I can't say for sure. Just an opinion from my observations.
The longer and lower pipes make them scrape.. Thats why I dont like the long shots, or pro pipes. Once again you cant go wrong with the Bassani 2-1 road rage 2. They are shorter and higher. And probably a better preforming pipe than anything out there. Also shorter shocks make for more scraping and a much worse ride. My job is done here.
Aces - I was really looking hard at the Bassani's... especially because so many people have V&H. I've just heard too many things about them from the dealer and a few local Indy shops about incorrect parts being sent with pipes, fitment issues, and other problems with quality. One Indy shop told me flat out that he will not install Bassani pipes so if that's what I want, it won't get done at his shop.
We are using the V&H big radius at the present. Tried the Bassani pipes but they scrape bad at the front down tube, by the forward controls. We have the SS 106 kit and the big radius works great for us. Loud, deep, great performance. No Goldwing, mr109, VTX 1800 will come close to it. We have a 2010 wide glide.
It is flat out wicked.
Me either on any of the boards. Only from Dealers and Indy shops around me. Kind of sucked because I had been eyeing Bassani's from the beginning... before I decided to go with a 2 into 1, I was looking hard at the Bassani Firesweeps. Now, after hearing from local places who install them, I don't have the comfort level to spend the $$ on them.
