I have a 2006 Dyna Wide Glide. I am a big guy (300+) and when my wife rides with me, I have problems with bottoming out. I have heard the stock HD shocks are not that great so I want opinions on which shocks to get.
go for shocks with a longer travel. Maybe around 13". You can also fit some ultra air shocks on and that should sort your issues out. I'm sure there are plenty of take offs around.
If you do not want to spend a lot of money, find a pair of bagger take-off air shocks. They are longer (12.8") and are easy to adjust pressure if you buy the air pump designed for air shocks.
I put them on my Fat Bob:
Take off shocks cost me $60, I picked up 2 air valves for $5-10 (use pipe dope, not teflon tape), and the pump cost $30 off *bay. Improved the ride dramatically (I am a big guy too and ride 2 up).
A Pair of HD 13" Progressive 440s would probably work just as well, but you'll be out another $300-$400.
