Default changing front isolator

Tried to research and really couldnt find info on why you would need to shim this. Should I be alright just to swap old for new without shims? Thanks. Edit: Shes an 09 FXD

Seems the shimming was to correct an excessive vibration issue or a bad isolator installation from the factory.

You only need to shim it if there's daylight between the mount and the frame when you put the mount in place. If there's space that means when you tighten down the mount you will be stretching it and it won't last too long and won't be working its best.
There's a few good threads here about motor mounts, keep looking.

I did the shim and it helped a bit, but I will do the procedure in the service bulletin next spring. https://www.box.com/s/42af95077c683c50e461 as I believe it is more appropriate.

This worked best for me. When I changed my isolator I still had a little gap.
After the alignment procedure the gap was gone.
