I need to hear from you guys that have changed out your front mounts to the 79D. there is a lot of post saying that they are not working. I would like to hear in detail what is not working.
I installed a 79D and have had no problems so far, makes me wonder what all the hype is about. Could it be the way different bikes are set up, Could it be the expectations are just unreasonable?
I would like to know. Dealer pointed it out to me on a 10K service that my mount was bad . I had noticed a bit of shake at 1500-1800-rpms but thought it was normal. I checked it out and sure enough the mount was bad. When I took it out I found that it was a 79C installed upside down. I put in a 79D and right way it was a lot better, still a little shake at the same rpm but not as bad.
I feel there will always be a little shake...hell that is one of the reasons I like the Harley, it just does not seem unreasonable to me. I am thinking that it must be worst with other bikes because I have heard complaints about the mounts. so lets hear the reasons!!

I was very apprehensive about going to the 79D, but have found that it is working just fine. If you need to change it out I would recommend giving it a try, the mount is under fifty bucks and is simple to change out. No need to over think it like I did.
I replaced mine almost two years ago (about 10K miles since the replacement), and my bike rides fine with the 79D. It rode fine before the replacement, but was worn, and since the bike was on a lift with all the painted parts off the bike for a repaint, the motor mount was replaced. I also did the vehicle alignment procedure in the Service Manual at that time, but had very little adjustment to make unlike the half dozen or so guys I know who did it and found they needed to make pretty substantial adjustments.
When I see threads about motor mount issues, and dissatisfaction with the 79D, it reminds me of the bagger wobble/stabilizer threads since I haven't experienced a wobble issue. I also wonder if the guys with motor mount issues have done the vehicle alignment. I'm sure not saying that folks don't have motor mount issues or that using something other than the 79D is beneficial. But I'd sure check vehicle alignment as part of addressing the motor mount issue.
If you are talking about the harley front motor mount the made in china goes up side down.I just put one in my 05 eglide but took it out because of the vibration went with a glide pro mount.Much better. But my buddy put in a drag mount an has no comlaints.
