Always cover the filter with a clean rag (or plastic bag when the engine is cold) when sitting. If the filter gets soaked your screwed. Clean when dirty and spray with "filter oil" stuff after. Any cover protection from rain is to your advantage. Don't smoke and drink in moderation.....
