88" oil pump
Ive heard that the oil pump on the 88" are kinda notorious for going out.
Im not to worried about this yet but I want to get some options cus next winter ill probably change mine lol
What are options as far as after market, and what other upgrades should I do at the same time?

I don't think you have anything to worry about for some time to come. However, If you're looking for a "step up" down the way, take a look at the 25282-11 Screamin' Eagle billit cam support plate with high volume oil pump from th SE Pro Racing Parts book.
You should inspect your cam chain tentioners around the 25-35K mi. mark. And, to do it correct, You have to remove the cam support plate to access the inner tentioner...a good oppertunity to do "up-grade work"
If the price is a little much for you, perhaps you could get you local dealer to order the oil pump from the kit. It's not but $60-70 U.S.
This is also a good time to do a Cam, tappet, and pushrod up-grades.
I've got an '06 FXDi W/ 137K + mi. on it and did this just to "Keep it alive" and, give me an extra little boost of "Perm-a-grin".
Best wishes....Tim(HT)

I've never heard of an original oil pump failure. I have heard of the "improved" pressure and scavenging on the "improved" pump which might be important to guys with seriously built engines, but not to me.
I have a Stage II 95" Big Bore from the Factory with the original 88" oil pump. I even kept the same oil pump when I installed the gear drive cams at 81,000 miles back in January 2011.
The bike just turned 123,000 miles as of this past week with the same original oil pump, and I'm riding to work Monday morning with the same tired oil pump that was in there in February 2000.
My old oil pump still pumps 32 lbs at anything over 2,000 rpm and never less that 8 lbs at idle. The bike still uses no oil between 5,000 mile oil changes, so it's obviously lubricating what it was designed to lubricate.
Unless you're getting into something way past a Stage II, save your money.
The new pump may put out 40 lbs, but no Harley needs anywhere near that much. Harleys use oil flow, not pressure. It's a lot of hype.

More pressure gives more flow. I ride hard in the hills, so want the best lube going on; I put the spring lifter pin in it and have been running along at about 45-50 lbs. hot, with 20 at idle for a couple years now. Pump is no problem, and I'm at 40k.
There is a stronger spring made to do the same thing (in the pressure regulator) called Bailey I think it was. I do take it easy the first five miles or so, because my gauge will peg out if I rev up much when cold.
