I'm totally new to forums altogether so if I am doing something wrong please tell me. Anyway i have a 06 wide glide with stock jugs and heads and I'm about to do a cam swap. Has anyone got the woods tw888 yet, it looks like it would perform like I'm looking for. I want mid range power band and i want that idle to sound more like a carb bike and it has the most overlap. Any experiences with this cam would be appreciated. Also tuner opinions too.
I was looking at the 254e that the dealer was doing a special on but my local indy suggested the 555 as it is a much better midrange cam and puts out quite a bit of power.
I'm sure someone with more experience than me will chime in, but from the research I've done a TW888 is a lot of cam for an otherwise stock (I'm assuming 88") motor. I think that cam is more intended for high compression 107" motors. I have a 96" with a TW555 and it has great midrange and top end power, and a cool sounding idle. Doesn't sound like a carb bike though, you'll probably never get that out of an EFI bike because of the idle speed.
I had the exact same bike, I put Andrews 26 cams in it and it's what I would recommend to you. Has great low and mid range. The bike also sounds better at an idle.
thanks for the input the reason i was looking at the 888 was because it should be almost the max lift for stock springs and later i may put bigger jugs on, up the compression and thought this cam would work well for anything i want to do later but correct me if im wrong
also im most likely going to order tuner cam kit and install kit from fuel moto soon whats everyones thought on power vision vs power comander what would be the $250 difference? don't mind spending the money if it worth it.
I'd go with the Andrews 26 or a SE 211. They have good low to mid and will work fine with the stock setup. When you want to up grade the jugs and pistons, I suggest buy a head or upgrade the stock heads. This will unlock allot for those cams. I'm dealing with the same thing as far as a module goes. The only thing I have to say is I've heard both good things and bad things about Power Commander and more bad then good (not enough maps bad interface) but the bad came from guys who build 100 hp to 120 hp monsters so i believe that for a relatively mild set up it would be OK. Hope this helped. OMS
I think im going to go with the power vision. I like the idea of programing the ecm instead of tricking it talked to jamie at fuel moto and he talked me into it and said tw555 would be my best bet because the 888s are for 10.5-1 compression or more. Any thoughts on these on a dyna? Or se 204
You will be happy you went with the Power Vision, no piggyback and is very user friendly and gives you a ton of control with your tune. I bought from FM too, and Jamie has already answered a phone call and 2 emails fast - great company.
