Default backing plates 2008 fxd
looking at air cleaners,looks like the s&s stealth has the best backing plate as far as sturdyness goes, seems to be very solid,I have a stock k&n filter on the bike now with the standard cover and would like to go to something smaller and round.would like to put a harley face plate on the front of the s&s anyone know if this can be done. looks like it should fit and there is a hole in the face of the s&s cover plate for the screw.if not the harley plate thought maybe just stick a cd on there.or cut a piece of diamond plate to fit

the round air cleaners with the hole in the center will accept the stock ham can or about any of the round covers from hd

I used the harley se backing plate. With a little imagination, you can use a S&S or any other and cover it however you want

ynots, thats the look Im looking for what is the combo of air cleaner and cover your running I would run a different center to match the covers I have on the bike allready

if i could use the chrome harley backing plate I would go that way but Iwas told they change the throttle body in 2008 and it won"t fit thats why I"m lookig for something else.don't care for the look of the standard plate

Mine is a 2008 fxdl and I have a harley chrome backing plate on it, I think you got some bad information

any possible way you could still have that part number around, and what did you use for the install screws and other parts

To run the Screamin' Eagle backing plate you will need to order these parts also:
(2) O-Ring P/N 11292
(2) Breather Tube P/N 29557-05
(2) Breather Screw P/N 29465-99


Get a K&N HD-0800 air filter:
