Just bought a 2013 street bob and I am looking for exhaust slip ons to give it a better sound its to quite and my wife keeps calling it a girl bike because it was no rumble.
For the money your going to pay for good slip-ons you should just get a real 2 into 1 exhaust.
I went with Rush slip-ons first but paid $300.00 with just over $500.00 I got a 2 into 1.
Big difference as the 2 into 1 gives you more power and sound out of your setup.
I gave the rush away a year later.
IMHO...I would consider the overall style of the bike, over the sound you want. I had Rush slip-ons on my Street Bob as well. Great sound, but I got tired of the massive amounts of chrome, hanging off the side of the bike.
V&H Short Shot slip ons, easy to install yourself, you could probably pick up a set on Ebay for +- $100. Having just bought your bike you are probably strapped for cash at the moment, The short Shots will give you the sound you want without having to do anything else. No mapping no tuner no airfilter, when you have spare cash you can do the upgrade thing with the whole package. you should be able to recover your $100 by selling the short shots again on Ebay.
Just looked on eBay and there are quite a few for under $100-00 I would consider any of the Non HD to make sure you are not buying the stock exhausts that someone has modified. Any of the known brands will be fine,
Cycle Shack sound good. I had them and liked them. Full exhaust is the best way to go. I had Rush short exhaust before goinf to 2:1. The Rush dhort exhaust where less that $300 from Phat Performance.
For slip-ons, I like the V&H 3" twin slash for sound. I have them on my bike & they sound great.
However, if I were doing it again, I would have done a full system from the beginning such as V&H big shots or Pro Pipe, but I was strapped for cash & trying to keep my payments reasonable so I opted for the slip-ons.
Good thing about putting slip-ons on an FXDC or FXDB is that the cats are in the muffler bodies, so just doing slip-ons will get rid of the cats at the same time.
Regardless of whether you do slip-ons or full system, V&H is top notch in quality, sound and performance IMO.
