So what is the best bet trying to decide if I should guy the HD LED or DDM HIDs? I ride alot at night and want to improve my vision. The HID's are appealing because of the price but I hate to regret my decision later.
Just installed HID, and so fare I think its brighter. I had the HD led in my last bike. The hid is about $350 cheaper as well. I'd like to see a side by side pic.
LED headlamps today are priced like LCD computer monitors used to be. They were cheaper and easier to manufacture, but prices were kept artificially high for years. My sub $100 HIDs are as bright as my neighbor's $400 LED setup.
Will tHat fit in a stock housing have you seen any reviews?
it fits in the 7" housings but not the 5" housings. iirc the streetbob has the top mount 5" housing you will have to swap it out for a bottom mount 7" housing but other then that its plug and play and a much better light then the HD/jwspeaker LED
Just a thought. How about Fat Bob headlamps? When I got my Fat Bob I wasn't a huge fan of the light and planed on replacing it. After riding at night a few times I realized that the dual setup works so well I could never get rid of it.
HID Pros - They will give you better vision of the road. They will have a better beam pattern than LED's
HID Cons - They draw a little more current than LED's. They don't last as long. And you have a remote ballast to deal with. A little harder to install and wire.
LED Pros - They are very bright within the "HOT" region of the beam. And they last a long time. Easy to install and wire. They look cool.
LED Cons - Expensive. Traped heat is a problem for the circuitry. Individual LED elements could fail reducing the effectiveness of the light output.
