Mid Glide to Wide Glide conversion has finally begun...

I talked to Hawg Halters today, and told them that the axle they sent did not fit with the spacers in the same kit. They agreed to take it back and credit me $35. I hope your stuff all fits together. If you have a stock HD Wide Glide axle when your HHI kit shows you should be covered either way.

Yeah, I ordered the stock HD Wide Glide axle from Surdyke on Monday and I got a UPS tracking number today so it will be here before the damn Hawg Halters stuff.
Hawg Halters is still telling me my ship date is 2/11. If I don't have a tracking number on 2/11, I will probably cancel my order and have to get my own spacers made. I can't believe a company that makes so much custom parts can not put together a simple axle/spacer conversion package in over a months time.
I am looking at Hawg Halters to get that same kit. I am in no rush since we are getting 3 feet of snow today in New England. I am curious to hear how everything works out.
ok, maybe i missed something in this thread, but, is there any specific advantage to having the wider trees or is just a looks thing? I can't imagine there is as the your not actually putting a wider wheel/tire in there. That i could see, but then again, maybe i'm completely missing something

There are 2 reasons I am doing this...
1) Looks ****!
2) Gets rid of my stock integrated risers
You are right, you can do this to install a wider front tire although I will never do this on my bike.

I called them again and supposedly my stuff is there now and they just have to assemble the package and they are shipping it out on Monday 2/11. My stock Wide Glide axle showed up today and it fits perfect. So if there is an issue with my Hawg Halters axle, I will not be up ***** creek and will use the stock Wide Glide axle with the Hawg Halters spacers.
I will let you know as soon as I have something to share.
Thanks for the update. I bought a used fork set up from a forum member. Wide Glide trees with street bob tubes. Cant wait to get them on my Bob. I am going with a set of Wide Glide wheels that I scoop up on ebay. I am still planing on using the Hawg Hawlers kit to get it all straight.
If I were to decide to put a springer under my wg, what is the wg front end worth?? Anyones answer will be a help. In the wind.
Pops
I think I saw someone selling a blacked-out wide glide front end for $475 in the classifieds. This included the trees and forks, fully assembled with some better springs and oil in the forks too. Pretty good price.
I will attempt to test fit tonight after work. I anticipate having to modify the non-brake side spacer because I had to do the same to my stock spacer on that side when I swapped to 21" wheel on the front. (My hubs are aftermarket and are 1/4 wider than stock hub on front)
I have a stock Wide Glide axle on hand as well just in case the Hawg Halters axle does not fit. This will be up for sale soon if the Hawg Halters axle works on my bike.
