My 5000 mile check point is about to come up and as I was looking through the service manual I noticed it recommends only the engine oil be changed at the 5k with the primary at 10k and trans at 20k.
This surprised me as I was planning to do all 3 at the 5k. Does anyone else do all 3 or is the engine all thats really needed at the 5k. And do you really wait 20k for trans?
I got my 1k done just last Sept, just FYI.
Any thoughts, or advice?
I just changed all 3 holes @ 5000 yesterday for piece of mind but its probably a waste. This next time I think I will go 10/20 on the tranny and primary, synthetic is some good stuff.
I agree with Jojo. I change all three every 5k. Its amazing how much metal and gunk you get out of both the primary and transmission. Maybe a waste of money but it gives me piece of mind and an excuse to have a couple of beers in the shop.
I changed all 3 at 5000 miles, to see if anything is going wrong, you can look at the fluids and see what shape it in. If there is any metal or plasticparts in the oil. Transmission and clutch are not cheap.
