I know what you mean about not being able to get it out of your mind...I looked at a several really nice Dyna models but I just kept coming back to an '01 that I just could not get out of my head. I kept thinking about what I could do with it to make it, "mine."
IDK about apes. I have personally never ridden a bike with them. Having had a few sport bikes in the past, I kind of like the lower bars. However, I agree that it would probably balance out the bike. And I plan on putting miles on it. It will be a semi DD.
I hate you D-bags that live somewhere you have to try to make something rusty Haha. It's a constant losing battle to prevent that **** around here. I don't get the bike, definitely not my thing, but It's still cooler than any softail. Congrats on finding one you love, ride the **** out of it.
Welp, I think I have a problem. I just noticed a noise today. I definitely didn't hear it when I looked at the bike a week ago, nor did I hear it when I bought it and rode it home on Friday, I also didn't hear it yesterday when I started it up for my neighbor to hear it.
Anyways, I started it today, let it warm up and rode it for around a few blocks. Now, whenever I rev it up, as the motor is slowing back down I can hear metallic rattle/whirring. It isn't a rod knock, I think. It doesn't make it when I rev it up only as it is slowing down. It definitely sounds like it is a decelerating circular sound. I realize that nobody can diagnose a sound from a description online. I made a video, but, over the exhaust and with my crappy cell phone I couldn't hear the noise in the video. I will try to get a video with my wife's Iphone and see if it is more audible. I guess I will pull the cam cover off this week and take a peek. The bike has about 30k miles.
