Well, I guess I'm in deep sh!!.... I took the vin label off (with a heat gun) on my 01' FXDL and also on my 05'. I had no trouble selling the 01' or getting a title to the 05'.
Oh sh*t...who cares if it's illegal. That's like removing bed mattress tags. Federal law "prohibits" that too
It was the first 'mod' I did...before many others. Those damn stickers are ugly as hell. Mine came off with one pull. Might not be as easy in the cold garage now..but I think it was somewhere around 75 degrees when I got my bike.
Take those horrible things off!
Guess if you live in an area where they need a barcode to scan you into the service department you're screwed if you remove th decalcause that's part of the decal on the downtube. Of course,I don't think that'll be a problem here in L A.(Lower Alabama).

you better care, I took mine off and when I got pulled over they took my bike, a week later the feds showed upand checked my pillows and found them gone also, I'm waiting to go to court on the pillow thing, may never get my bike back [sm=boohoo.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]
When is the last time anyone on this forum got pulled over for a Vin check? If you don't care, leave it alone, if not, jerk it off. The jerk off could be the most fun.

I don't suppose you getting pulled over and them taking your bike had anything to do with the fact that the other vin number (the one stamped in the frame) was scratched out, you didn't have any plates, and that you hit a group of school children waiting for the bus five minutes earlier...Of course, I could see that happening because you usually have to ride pretty fast after you steal an old lady's purse right in front of a cop. I guess I could see that
Good luck getting that bike back!
