hello, i need help choosing between a windshield or a new seat with a backrest for a 2012 streetbob. i currently have a mustang wide tripper solo seat and i LOVE it!! i would be buying the same seat with backrest if i go that route. i recently went on a 3 day trip and the wind kicked my ***. i really dont like the look of the windshield. any opinions would be helpfull. thanks
I was having the same issue with wind. I really didn't like the look of a windshield but I have to say...it is worth the sacrifice. I have a National Cycle N21119 Switchblade 2-up windshield and it completely solved my issue. My back is good now, even without a backrest. Believe it or not, I kind of like the look now. I am happy I didn't go with a low shield though, You will get much more wind blockage out of a higher shield. Mine is 19" and I wish it was a few inches higher. I'm 6' though, good luck.
Get the HD quick detach Super Sport windshield....works great and looks better than the standard QD windshield because it doesn't have the cross braces. You can get it in 19" or 17". Mine is 19".
I don't like the looks of any windshield either, but it sure makes a HUGE difference when it's cool out & on longer trips.
Here's another angle of the 19" Super Sport QD windshield on my bike..
If I were doing it again, I would get the shorter 17" version, but this one works great.
I have a smoked compact windshield #58348-06 out of the HD parts book that I am plann on selling. Nothing wrong with it and it works and looks nice. Its not like an oversized barn door. I an selling because I went batwing instead. PM if interested.
I have the HD Compact with the quick detach brackets. I leave it on most the time but if I'm doing some quick local trips, I take it off. But when riding to work and buzzing down the interstate at "the posted speed limit" it takes a ton of pressure off the chest.
