Getting ready to swap my midglide front end for a fatbob. Black glossy trees came from surdyke today. I forgot to order pinch bolts.
Does anyone know if I can i use the ones on my mid glide? I'm not home to check sizes.
Thanks,
George
I just did the same swap and you can use the ones from your mid glide. Do you have 49mm forks already?
Thanks - Yep I have the 49mm forks. My bike's an 01 and I swapped out my 39mm front end for a 07 front end. So now I figured I'd do it again using fatbob trees and a fatbob wheel (for now). I'll probably sell the midglide trees and profile laced wheel as soon as I'm done.
That's where I bought my Fat Bob trees from too. Surdyke got just as good of prices as NewCastle aka Zanottis, on most things, but much better shipping prices and they are pretty quick too.

The trees came pretty quick - like a week - but the axle is back ordered. They even gave me a 20$ gift card - jeez what costs 20$?
Anyway I'm in no hurry really - still have a driveway that's solid ice.
It started out that I just needed a front tire... and then I said what the heck.

HAHA. I must have bought the last wide glide axle because that is where I bought that from too.

Anyway just got back form tru-value - wanted to buy some allen head replacements for the pinch bolts. They had 3/8 X 16 X 1.50" I even think 1.25" would work - but they only stainless not grade 8 so i passed. I guess it makes a difference.

You can reuse the stock pinch bolts. I did. They are Grade 8 too.
We are both doing the same conversion, but mine is an 09 Street Bob......I ordered the black FXDF trees from New Castle last night.......I ordered new pinch bolts too .......I do have to order the axle, sucks that its backordered, but I believe Vtwin manufacturing makes a duplicate. Ill post the part number when I find it. Do you know if the neck bearings and cups are the same between the mid glide and wide glide?
