I haven't been able to get a clear answer on this so I hope someone who has done it can help.
I can't stand the silver band on the stock battery box and want to black it out or at least subdue the silver. For anyone out there who has done it, is there any particular type of paint I should use? Also did you paint the entire box or just remove the band? Thanks in advance!
It depends on what finish you want and price. Plasti dip is great and that is what I used on the battery box strip, fork lowers and a few others. sorry for the bad pic
At first I had my 2 boxes powder coated and really liked them. As far as the band, i just replaced with a chrome one. The band is held on with very good double sided tape so if you remove it to paint go slow (stock one is fragile). Then I started messing around with painting myself and redid the boxes plus a few other bits. I used a spray can lacquer with a compatible clear coat. Good thing is you can try different things until you get it the way you want it and its cheap for the most part.

My solution was to personalize the band. Had my painter reverse-mask the lettering, shoot the Fire Red Pearl, add shadowing to the letters, then the matching ghost flames. The letters themselves are the original satin of the stock band; clear-coat over all.
