I have a chrome Thunderheader on my Dyna and the chrome is starting to look pretty bad where the 2 pipes come together. i'm thinking of painting them black . I heard ceramic coating works good but funds are low and might just paint it .Amy suggestions on paint or techniques? i would like more of a gloss black than a flat if i can get that result. i'm sure someone will have some tips for me! thanks
A powder coat would probably look and hold up best. However, if you wanted to spray it, I'd scuff it and spray it with a high temp engine or header paint.
im planning on sending Joe some parts just dont have enough money to do pipes to at this time so if i do it at all this year i will have to spray it. Its not that bad yet but im painting the bike and powedercoating a bunch of stuff black (primary, cam, trannny covers rocker box covers , fender struts and dash) so i think it would look good black too. so if anyone has painted thiers id like to see pics and hear what they used.. i know to paint over chrome i need to scuff it real good

I painted the pipes on my old bike. With high temp header paint but it turned out kinda dull and chalky looking. Kind of the opposite of what your looking for.
here are T headers we have powder just to get your wheels spinning hahaha paint is really tough to pull off on the T header as they just run so so hot.
thanks Joe! looks like i might have to wait on the pipes til next year...im waiting on tax return then im sending you a bunch of parts to do GLOSS BLACK .. cant wait! my extra tank and fenders are already at my friends house being prepped for paint..it's getting nicer out...i just want it finished!! after i get the powder and paint i will post pics...
