Boring? 10,000 miles to and from the Arctic Circle (1,000 on gravel) was anything but boring. I might have been able to take the 12 to 18 hours per day of wind, rain, hail, and enormous bugs in the Dyna saddle, but I would have never been able pack the gear I need to camp and survive on the route.

I agree, if you like the Dyna bikes then I would wait to add a tourer instead of replacing. I enjoy both the Dyna and the street glide. When we make a trip it is usually 2,000 miles or more. My wife goes with me 90% of the time.
For a few days the Dyna does good.
I love spanking the VTX and m109r and some of the others.

Take a CVO Road Glide Custom out, the radio feels like its a mile away. I took all the touring models out for a test ride while in Daytona last weekend. I can tell you this much you are right about the weight, old dude dropped a CVO Ultra behind me, what a bitch to pick back up. Anyways, every model road different from the other. The full bagger is not my pick from the bunch, to much on the bike for me. The Road King was not very comfy, the Road Glides where nice but felt wierd with the fairing not moving. So of the group, the Street Glide is still my fave and the one I'll end up with one day, with a very low profile seat the fairing doesn't seem to close. So although you didn't like the full bagger, don't cut them all out, test ride a few.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Streetglide, but I do miss my Super Glide. It was like a Sportster on steroids. Great fun in the hills and twisties. But man my back hurt at the end of a long ride. Things were better on my Heritage, but I'm getting older and want the comfort and tunes so the Street Glide is for me. Being a bit lower than the other touring bikes makes it easier to toss around. It just handles great. But I wouldn't mind having a Street Bob or Softy in the garage too.

I totally agree with this assessment. After riding all of the touring bikes from the national demo truck at my dealer last fall (some multiple times), I felt the same way.

The seating ergonomics of the Electra Glides and Road Kings just felt uncomfortable to me...too cramped up. Maybe that could be solved with a different seat...idk.

The Road Glide fairing was WAY too far out in front for me and bothered my visibility as it blocked the view directly in front of the bike. The bars are also different on the Roadie & I don't like them either.

The Street Glide just felt right. I will add one someday to keep my Dyna company in the shop. I like everything about the Street Glide....there's a reason they are so popular.
