apes flex.

Anybody have a fix for the handlebars (moving) in the rubber grommets on the top triple tree? It was solid with stockbars but now that the apes are on they have more leverage and flex the grommets. Was thinking about using washers on top and bottom to take the (wiggle room) away.

You can buy/fit harder bushes for the bar fixings. Polyurethane I think. They don't flex as much as standard but they will transmit slightly more vibration.

Get a set of the Polyurethane Handlebar Riser Bushings, worked for me!

I changed to the Poly bushings. The increase in handlebar vibration for me was alot. My bars vibrate like crazy when at a stand still. The poly bushings will help with the flex, but be ready for more vibration in your bars.

What everyone else said. The poly bushings are night and day compared to stock. I hated that mushy feeling. The guy at the dealer gave me some bullsh*t line about the flex being good for reducing vibration...whatever. I prefer a nice solid handlebar/riser setup. Get those bushings and the problem will be solved.

All of the Dynas have some handlebar vibration at idle, and smooth out as the rpm increases. The polyurethane bushings stopped the flex in the bars on my Wide Glide. They are easy to install, a torque wrench, and the right size socket is about all you will need. (You may want to cover your tank with a blanket or something to prevent any scratches.)
