Hey guys I'm new to the site. But not to riding by any means. However I am building my first Harley currently. I am posting this thread to get some insight from riders who have done what I am looking to do or knows someone who has.
I have a 98 wide glide. I want to do the most I can with out actually pulling the motor and doing a stroke and big bore. Here is a list of the upgrades I have and what I am planning on getting. I appreciate any information and or recommendations anyone has on these parts as far as performance and quality.
CURRENTLY INSTALLED
- SE57 cam
- SE adj pushrods
- SE plug wires
- SE plugs
- New OEM lifers
- New OEM oil pump casting and guts
- High flow airfilter
- Mikuni jet kit on stock carb
- Stock headers with vance and hines slip ons
PARTS TO BE INSTALLED
- SE .10 over 10:1 high compression pistons
- Ported stock 1340 heads
- Bored stock cyclinders
- Stock valves
- DynaTek single fire ignition and coil kit
- Carlini torque arm
- 99 night train drag bars and risers
- Progressive 412 series 11" rear shocks
- CONSIDERING progressive 1" fork lowering kit[/B] ( I have heard very mixed reviews about lowering the front end) Any suggestions?
Has anyone ever done anything similar to this build? I want what everyone else in the world wants, a big bang for the buck. With the research I have done it seems like this is the best way to go with out pulling the motor.
Thanks again folks for any info you can possibly fill me in on.

Reason: forgot info
Your going to build a motor and then use stock headers and slip ons? Why would you do that?
those headers from harley are the best they have ever made. i had thunder headers on there and it sounded like junk, stock headers and cycle shack slip ons i think sound the best for the money by far
