I have 2011 Fat Bob and read all the threads on using cardboard to protect the switch when replacing the front break lever.
I just did this and couldnt get cardboard in there so I took it apart to see and I didnt see any switch. I put it back together and the brake light still works.
Could this be different on my bike? Any info would be appreciated? The brakes also work. Or if it still may break?
The switch is located as shown in image 2 (p/n 2). Try to adjust the switch's position by bending out the wedge.
Here's how the brake activates the switch:
The pin on the lever (see image 1 p/n 1) pushes the plunger into the brake cylinder when squeezed... at the same time the brake switch which is mounted through the hole (image 2 p/n 3) is being released.
When you want to take off the lever from the handlebar and insert a piece of 4mm cardboard, the lever is pulled in a little allowing the pin to come off the brake switch's rubber cap. Now the lever can be removed without snagging this rubber cap.
When you re-install the lever, insert the cardboard as well and insert the lever as shown in image 3....
Thanks for all the pics. The question is do you think I damaged the boot? Tje light seems to work now but is it bound to fail since I didnt use the cardboard to hold pressure on it?

I think you're OK for now. Once it starts failing to work you'll know where to look....
Thanks alot for your help. I am a little slow but from your pics I found that switch. Its opposite the brake plunger. I thought it was where you put the cardboard.
