Well, PuffDaddy did it again. I have been looking for a dark red vinyl decal for a while and he had one he offered to give me. I love the way it looks. The application was easy and the finish was what I would expect of a quality design. Its hard to get a good picture of it, it does have a lightly shiny surface but, it is a dark red color.
Removing the old decal was a bit more tricky for me than I thought. I did heat it up til it was hot to the touch before I removed it with fishing line, trying not to saw through it but slide it off gently. I had quite a bit of the goo left behind that I was able to remove with my fingernail, denatured alcohol, and hot water and soap. Depending on the light, if you look really close, you can see a faint outline where parts of the original decal were. I'm sure they'll fade out over time but, I just thought I should make note of it for those that were curious.
How it looked with the decal off, during the goo removal process.
Thanks again PuffDaddy. I have already received a ton of compliments. They made a huge difference in the appearance of the bike. I love it.
I saw you the other night--you turned east on 7200 off of state. I recognize the red anarchy sign on the AC.
when are you going to ditch the fender reflectors?
Ha I have often looked at those thinking the same thing... I kinda like the red accent it has there, sometimes. Who knows...
After taking the decals off the tank tho and seeing how the paint is underneath, I dont know if I'd risk it leaving a dark shadow behind, without anything to cover it up....
Looks good, fairly soon this will be the norm and the stock emblem will be unique.
Ha, I agree. You know, I really liked my stock decals. They just didn't seem to fit with the direction I was going. I still have them, and they look completely re attachable. I'm sure one day they'll make their way back on the bike.
