It already had 2 holes drilled in it 1.25 inches apart. I just had to drill them out bigger to match the bolt size on the bike. The strap goes on the outside of the tank tab. I used a black allen bolt with a nylock nut to attach one end to the tank. The original tank bolt stays on the bottom but I added 2 washers on each side of this bolt so it would be aligned with the strap on the tank tab. The washers should be the smallest outside diameter you can find because the tank tab will sit right on top of them. If you use larger washers then the lift will have to be taller. Hope this makes sense.

Assembley in order of position (left side as you face the rear of the bike):
Upper end of strap: Strap, tank tab, bolted together.
Lower end of strap: Strap, 2 small washers, bolt to original tank mount bolt.

I've had mine on for a year with no trouble at all. As you said, I think it's perfect.

Sweet. Thanks for the info on this one.
