Superglide Tank Swap

I have a 2001 FXD Superglide. I have done some things to it, I love it and do not want to get rid of it. I hate the Speedometer sitting up like a lollipop over the head light. I would like to change the look a little. I had put the 2" front tank riser on it. My question, can I get a FXDWG Tank and replace mine? I know I will need wiring and such, but I can handle that. Any and All Input will be appreciated!

I did the swap with my super glide. I used a low rider/street Bob tank. My bike, a 2005, is fuel injected so all the tanks from 2004-2010 were universal. I think it would work, and my conversion wasn't that hard. Wiring was very basic. If you decide to do the conversation and get stuck pm me and I'll be glad to help you. Just confirm tank mounts matches your tank mounts and everything else will fall into place. Good luck...

You could always just cut and splice. Be sure to have to 01 repair manual it shows the wiring diagram for both the FXD and FXDWG.

I think the bolt on years for FXDWG tanks is 96-03.

I have 2004 SG and would love to change my tank so I can get the Speedo on the tank..are there any tanks that would just fit right on?

I have an 02 FXD, I installed a FXDWG tank, but what I did different was I cut out the stock dash mount made a new one so that I can install a streetbob dash, this way I could reuse my stock speedo, also my ignition switch remained in its original spot.
