Just a little time overseas but i sure had a lot of down time...
Not really sure what knot it is but all i did was ran a loop the entire length of the forks and start wrapping as tight as i could all the way up. once you get to the top, you run the end through the loop and hold it tight while you pull the other end (should be on the bottom) with pliers...As you pull the other end of the loop, it will pull the top end under the wrap and that hold everything tight. Technically no knots....It hasen't moved at all yet
Nice project.
It's called "Common Whipping"
First, lay a loop of twine alongside the rope (handlebar end/fork tube), with the open end of the loop toward the end of the rope (handlebar grip/fork tube).
Then, beginning a short distance from the rope end (handlebar grip/fork tube), wind the twine tightly around both the rope and the twine loop. the last turn of the winding is inserted through the loop end.
Next, holding the rope (handlebar grip/fork tube) in one hand, pull the twine-end at the end of the rope (handlebar grip/fork tube) until the twine-end is about mid-way in the whipping. Clip both twine-ends and the job is complete. The whipping should be at least as long as the diameter of the rope (handlebar end/fork tube).
ive tried the same thing a while back and while they look cool, i found that the paracord was verry slick and i could not get a good grip on my grips with it.
