Just got my first 05 super glide yesterday. Only 3400 miles on it. The guy had it setting for the last two years so it was running rough at idle. I bought the new needle seat, slow jet carb, gasket for the bowl. Took it all apart and it will idle fine now. But whenever I try to give it gas it dies. We have the air flow screw out 2.5 turns from the bottom. We tried tuning it for about 2 hours with no luck. Anything else I should check in the carb? Could the spark plugs be the wrong ones too? Thanks guys.
Forgot to mention I also replaced the diaphragm. One question there, shouldn't the diaphragm be opening up when you hit the throttle? It is just staying in place.
I just had a similar thing happen to my friends bike, the problem for him was the Accelerator pump diaphragm was worn out and broken in pieces, after we replaced it the bike run great. the symptoms for him was it would idle great but as soon as you gave any throttle it would want to die.
One way to test the diaphragm is when you push it up do you hear like a vacuum sound and then it drops slowly, if so it probably is ok.
another potential issue is the pilot needle could be installed wrong, in the attached pic you will see what I am talking about, this part should protrude into the opening as in the pic identified by the arrow
I'm actually not sure if that pilot needle is installed correctly. What is that at the bottom of the pilot needle? We put in a new accelerator pump diaphragm. We didn't have any carb and choke cleaner so we are going to take it all apart again today and spray it out good and see what happens.

Below the pilot needle is where the main jet is installed, remove the main jet and emulsion tube and that pilot needle will fall out,
Carefull where you spray carb cleaner , the accelerator pump is sensitive to harsh cleaners, when you replaced the accelerator pump diapramg did you reinstall the very small rubber orings (2)
I believe we have the pilot needle installed wrong then. We have it above the main diaphragm so it is setting down through the diaphragm, it looks like in your picture you have the needle setting in that hole with the washer holding there and the needle going through the diaphragm.

Big hole goes at the top (visible as you look into carby throat) otherwise it will run like poo. Check you get a nice squirt from the accelerator pump, that is the brass tower sticking up in the pic.
If the diaphragm is not installed correctly (pinched, not seated) you will have the symptoms you mentioned. Use the carb cap to kind of shimmy the ring of the diaphragm into the groove.
We should have it all figured out. The emulsion tube that sets below the needle jet was not the right one, this one only had two holes compared to the 12 or so that the OEM has. So I bought a new emulsion tube, also, it did not even have needle jet so I had to order one of those. Hopefully the needle jet will be in by friday and we will have it all squared away.
