that's for you boogie. I was going to push it outto some deep snow but i felt sorryfor the bike. Our cold snap is finally over (i hope) We're supposedly getting near thawing temps later in the week.

I won't be riding for a while but I guess that gives me time to make more changes...kinda hard to change things when you haven't even ridden it yet, hard to tell what you'll like and what you won't
Winter is tough, 'specially on the bank account!- have'nt even started mine since mid-November...My right shoulder is almost to the point where I think I could safely grab the throttle; might be a short ride in my future, later this week - 'spose to turn sh!tty again this weekend.

Boogie, what did you do to your shoulder?
if you get a chance to ride do a couple of miles for me

Nice yard, you're lucky, I've got 2 acres where i live but they're closing in aroundme. (my farm is about 20 minutes from where i live, there i have lots of room)

Man, don't you hate when you spend 10 minutes on a reply, hit ok and get an error message?

Anyway, thanks haksaw! We have 5 acres, no chance for more houses; land is way too valuble in crop. We have the kind of black loam that consistantly produces 200+ bushels/acre - pop sicle sticks root in it, etc. Our closest neighbor is 1/2 mile away. I noticed in an earlier post that you have a new house right next door...at least you have the farm to escape to. Neighbors suck, IMHO, anyway....

Ah, the shoulder: I had a mishap w/ one of God's lil' white tailed creatures last October (on the bike at the time, of course) My only chance to avoid collision with a corn-fed Iowa doewas a mud filled ditch on the side of the rural hiway I was on. Hit the side of the ditch hard with my right side (had my helmet and full leathers on), tore my rotator cuff to shreads (t-tear). 3 hours of surgery, 2 metal pins, 6 holes and 6 weeks in an imobilizing sling...First time I'vegone down in 30 years and was'nt able towalk away and'shake it off'. Been hit by a car, slid under a car, nothing compares to this pain!

The crash has a lot to do w/ my departure from the original Street Bob look...anyway, healing well and I am ready to RIDE!!!!

Well thats what I've been looking at, the memphis lowers, but I thought that H-D stated that any of them could cause overheating. I dont know, but if they are OK to use I am sure thinking of getting a pair.

I have one of the quci detachables from HD, with the taller shield, but I get terrible high speed buffeting on my WG. I made some brackets to kick out the bottom end of the shield and am going to try that. Problem I see is now the cutout over the headlight has risen and opened a larger gap. Am hoping the small bag I have attached to the shield helps keep the upflow from pounding me. That and the tank lift I am trying. I read some earlier posts and some were saying that this shield works best, its the National Cycle Switchback 2-up shield. Of course what works for one isn't always the ticket you the other guy....

RonnR,

I have thought about getting some lowers as well. I have heard that H-D states that they will cause you to overheat on warm days. Is that true or not?

John
I havent noticed any extra heat.. It didnt change the air flow at my knees or shins, but really stopped all buffeting on my chest and head area.. I can ride with a baseball cap (bill forward) at 70mph and not loose my hat.........
It really has made a differance on the open road.. I still prefer the look without, for around town and short runs, but its a must have for the road trips..
