I bought my '07 WG in late October last year, so I haven't rode it much and I'm still getting used to it. I have a very hard time getting the bike into neutral, always pops past. Sometimes I have a little better luck if I lean down and do it by hand, but that is also difficult. Is there anything wrong with my bike? Can anything be done? The bike has 13k on it.
Adjust the clutch as per the manual, which goes like this: Turn in the adjuster that sits mid-cable, so that you have maximum slack.
Then take the derby cover off and slacken the locknut on the centre adjuster. Turn the adjuster in with a 7/32 allen key until its real tight, then back off until slack and turn in again until it just starts to go tight.
Turn it out a 1/4 turn and lock the locknut again (11/16)
Adjust cable to give 2mm slack at the lever and that should fix it.
If it doesn't you might wanna use a thinner primary oil (ATF).
There ate utube videos for adjusting the clutch too. Very helpful.
I was also wondering if ur just trying to get it when ur parking the bike as well. If that's the case, Ive found it much easier to hit neutral by turning the engine off, then it goes right into neutral. Obviously not an option if u r riding, or just stopped at a light.
There is a footnote in the 2005 manual that if you are over capacity on the oil you will have difficulty finding neutral.
owners manual says 24 to 28 oz, if you put the whole qt in like dealership or other folks say i got the exact condition you dscribe. So i keep an empty bottle of of mobile 20-50 just to measure out 26 ozs when i change out my primary. Works great, good luck. +1 on proper clutch adjustment too!
Thanks Guys! I've tried rolling back and forth doesn't help. I will check the fluid level, I changed the fluid a while back to synthetic, I will make sure I didn't overfill.
I may have overfilled it when I changed out the clutch cable. I filled it with 1 QT of synthetic 20/50 from the HD dealer. I didn't have a manual at the time and the dealer told me it took 1 qt, so I may have a few ounces too much.

The Redline HD Shockproof "Pepto Bismol" really helped the shifting and Neutral finds in my Road King; didn't notice a big difference in my Dyna, but it was smooth-shifting and easy to find Neutral already. FWIW.
